Relational learning

‚ÄčRelational learning, an ability to recognize and respond to relationship among objects irrespective of the nature of those objects, has long been recognized as a hallmark of human reasoning. ‚ÄčAnimals too can respond to relations, at least under some circumstances. We are currently interested in characterizing conditions under which relational learning occurs, pinpointing the brain areas involved in relational processing, and developing mathematical models that accurately describe this behavior.
